WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP FOR ANXIETY – 6 SIGNS

Hello Friend
This is Dr Omerine and I hope you are having a wonderful day.
If there’s anything that can ruin your mental and physical wellbeing, it’s anxiety and burnout!

Everyone experiences some level of stress and anxiety at one point. As women, we juggle all the time (kids, work, business, parents etc) and are able to handle higher levels of stress. High levels of emotional stress can lead to weight gain, heart disease, eating disorders, depression and sleep disorders. So it is important to know when to seek medical attention in order to protect yourself and family?

Let’s get started!

Seek immediate medical help if you feel any of these 7 signs.

#1. SIMPLE TASKS SEEM OVERWHELMING
Do small tasks around your home, or at work seem more overwhelming? Do you find yourself repeatedly procrastinating urgent and important tasks resulting in detrimental results? If you went from being super organized and on top of things to being unable to finish projects then this is a sign that something major may be going on.

#2. PERSISTENT LACK OF SLEEP
Apart from their inability to take up and finish a task, people living with anxiety often find it difficult to get a good night rest and often feel fatigue throughout the day. Tossing and turning or waking up really early can be common but going days without sleep especially if you feel no need for sleep is not normal. Seek medical attention if you feel no need to sleep and or are going days without sleeping.

#3. LOSS OF CREATIVITY AND PURPOSE
Ok ladies, have you ever felt lost and unmotivated? Well, it is normal to have some down days however, if you feel constantly mentally and emotionally exhausted, irritable and lost you may be struggling with something more than just a bad day. It feels and looks different for everyone so pay attention to what close people who care about you are saying. A drastic persistent change in behavior is a warning sign.

#4. FEAR
Do who struggle with intense feelings of fear? They often have their fears amplified to an extreme point which do not fade away. Riding a plane or entering a room full of strangers can be unbearable. Many of you deal with an intense fear of flying and this could be normal but beware of new fears or phobias. Pay attention to drastic increase in phobia especially when they start
affecting your social and professional life.

#5. EMOTIONAL NUMBNESS
A subtle warning sign that you may need help is emotional numbness. Especially towards people who you are in personal relationships with – marriage, dating, family, kids. Such feelings of emotional numbness could progress to anxiety and even depression because it tends to affect one’s productivity.

#6. PANIC ATTACKS OCCUR MORE OFTEN
Dear Lady, if you are living with anxiety and go from occasional to frequent or daily panic attacks, then please seek medical help. You know what a panic attack feels like – rapid breathing,
rapid heart racing and trouble breathing with a feeling of impending doom. Such a feeling is almost unbearable and there’s nothing they can do about it. Don't let it get out of control. Seek help.

Takeaway

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are ways to cope with anxiety, with and without medication, therapy, or both. There are also different methods of treatment – it's just about finding what works best for you.

XOXO
